During the use of the transformer ratio tester, common problems can be classified into two categories: hardware failures of the instrument itself and abnormal testing alarms. The specific manifestations and solutions are as follows:
1. Hardware malfunction of the instrument itself
① Power failure
Performance: The instrument does not respond or the screen does not light up after pressing the power button, or it automatically shuts down immediately after turning on.
Reason: The built-in battery is running low or damaged, the external power adapter is faulty, the power interface has poor contact, the internal fuse is blown, and the power board is faulty.
solve:
Replace the fully charged battery or qualified power adapter.
Check if the power interface is loose and ensure good contact.
Open the instrument casing (requires professional operation), check the status of the fuse, and replace it with a fuse of the same specification if it is blown.
If the problem still cannot be solved, contact the manufacturer to repair the power board.
② Screen display abnormality
Performance: Black screen, blurred display, unresponsive buttons.
Reason: Loose or broken screen cable, damaged backlight module, aging or poor contact of key panel, main control board malfunction.
solve:
Lightly tap the instrument casing and observe if the screen is restored (check for loose wiring).
Wipe the button contacts and check if the button panel is aging.
Hardware damage requires factory repair, replacement of screen, backlight module or main control board.
③ Abnormal measurement accuracy
Performance: The deviation between the measured transformation ratio and the standard value far exceeds the allowable range (such as>± 1%), and wiring and parameter setting issues have been ruled out.
Reason: Drift of internal voltage sampling module, loss of calibration data, excessive contact resistance of test clamps or cables, and damage to transformers.
solve:
Calibrate the instrument using a standard resistor or calibration source.
Replace the test line and test pliers to ensure good contact.
Contact the manufacturer to recalibrate the sampling module or replace the transformer.
④ Data storage and export failure
Performance: Unable to save measurement data, unable to export data via USB/Bluetooth, loss of stored historical data.
Reason: Internal storage chip damage, poor USB compatibility, Bluetooth module malfunction, system program disorder.
solve:
Replace the compliant USB drive and retry to ensure compatibility of the USB drive format.
Restart the instrument and restore the system's default settings.
Hardware failure requires returning to the factory for replacement of storage chips or Bluetooth modules.
2. Test abnormal alarm fault
① Wiring error alarm
Performance: The instrument screen displays "wiring error" and "phase sequence error", unable to start measurement.
Reason: The high and low voltage side test lines are connected in reverse, the three-phase phase sequence corresponds incorrectly (such as high voltage A corresponds to low voltage b), the test clamp is not clamped to the terminal, resulting in poor contact, and there is a short circuit in the excess test clamp.
solve:
Reconnect the wiring according to the transformer nameplate and instrument manual to ensure that the phase sequence on the high voltage side corresponds one-to-one with that on the low voltage side.
Clamp the test pliers tightly, suspend the excess test pliers, and avoid touching metal parts.
Some instruments have reverse connection protection function, which may trigger protection interruption testing when connected in reverse, requiring rewiring.
② Overcurrent protection alarm
Performance: During the measurement process, the instrument pops up an "overcurrent protection" prompt and automatically stops the test.
Reason: Short circuit between turns or to ground of the tested transformer winding, short circuit of the test line, overload of the instrument output module.
solve:
Disconnect the test line first, start the instrument with no load, and check if it is a problem with the instrument itself.
If the no-load condition is normal, check the insulation status of the transformer winding, eliminate the short circuit fault, and then test again.
Check if the test line is damaged and replace the cable to avoid short circuits.
③ Unable to identify wiring group
Performance: The instrument cannot recognize the wiring group, or the recognition result does not match the nameplate seriously.
Reason: Incorrect setting of wiring group parameters, incorrect polarity of wiring, internal faults in the transformer (such as winding deformation).
solve:
Verify and correct the wiring group parameters within the instrument.
Recheck the polarity of the wiring to ensure that the high voltage side corresponds to the low voltage side.
If it still fails, the transformer needs to undergo winding deformation testing to troubleshoot internal faults.
④ Abnormal measurement data
Performance: After starting the measurement, the screen variable ratio and voltage value display zero or no data.
Reason: Test line breakage or open circuit of internal core wire, severe oxidation of test clamp leading to poor contact, malfunction of instrument output signal module.
solve:
Use a multimeter to check the conductivity of the test wire and replace the broken or open circuit test wire.
Polish the test pliers and transformer terminal oxide layer to ensure good contact.
If there is still no data after replacing the test line, repair the instrument output module.
