Working principles:

Current injection testing is used to inject current into the primary and secondary sides of the electrical system to check protective equipment. The purpose of these tests is to test the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems (mainly protective equipment such as circuit breakers), and to help identify any defective equipment. According to the current amplitude and injection direction, the current testing device is divided into primary and secondary. Both primary and secondary testing devices operate based on the same principle of simulating real excitation current to verify whether the circuit breaker trips at its design limit and how long the current needs to flow before initiating the trip (activation time).

The type of high current group: Both primary and secondary current injection tests can be used for industrial purposes, and selection is made based on the application and objectives of the test.

Primary or high current testing devices: Primary current testing devices are used for high current/high voltage applications, typically in large electrical installations such as substations. These testing devices operate by injecting a current within the range of 100A to 20000A (depending on the circuit breaker specifications) directly into the primary side of the electrical system (such as the circuit breaker) to test its load-bearing capacity. Unlike secondary current testing devices that only test electronic circuit breakers, primary current testing is used for thermal magnetic circuit breakers and electronic circuit breakers. Modern high current testing devices are integrated with cable terminals, timers, temperature indicators, contractors, independent phase control, and other accessories. They can determine the health status of the CT and the wiring conditions from the CT to the release.
