What is the difference between high-frequency DC high-voltage generators and ultra-low-frequency high-voltage generators?

:2023-09-28 09:28:40:

Both high-frequency DC high-voltage generators and ultra-low-frequency high-voltage generators are instruments that detect hidden defects in the insulation of electrical equipment. They understand and master the insulation status of the equipment, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of high-voltage electrical equipment. Assess the ability of equipment to withstand overvoltage, simulate various overvoltage artificially, and test the insulation of the equipment to verify its withstand capacity. However, there are differences in the measurement objects between high-frequency DC high-voltage generators and ultra-low-frequency high-voltage generators.

High frequency DC high voltage generator is a common DC withstand voltage device in power preventive testing equipment. It has been used for DC withstand voltage testing of power cables to check the insulation performance of cables. However, with the research of power preventive testing, it has been found that the insulation performance of cables under DC state is not perfect, and the hidden damage to cables is greater. Gradually, the scope of use of DC high voltage generator is limited to a certain extent, At present, DC high voltage generators are mainly used to measure the leakage current of zinc oxide lightning arresters or serve as DC power sources.

The ultra-low frequency and high voltage generator is suitable for voltage withstand test projects of electrical equipment with large insulation equivalent capacitance, such as measuring power cables, power capacitors, medium-sized generators, and motors. The ultra-low frequency insulation withstand voltage test is actually an alternative method to the power frequency withstand voltage test. Because using the power frequency withstand voltage method to measure large capacity equipment requires a large capacity test transformer or resonant transformer. This makes it very inconvenient to use. In order to solve this contradiction, the power department has adopted a method of reducing the test frequency and reducing the capacity of the test power supply. Years of theory and practice at home and abroad have proven that replacing the power frequency withstand voltage test with a 0.1Hz ultra-low frequency withstand voltage test can not only have the same equivalence, but also greatly reduce the volume and weight of the equipment, with a theoretical capacity of about one fifth of the power frequency, Compared to power frequency testing, it has more advantages.

Precautions for Testing and Using DC High Voltage Generators

1. To ensure personal safety, users are repeatedly reminded to pay attention to the good grounding of the control box and voltage doubling cylinder, as well as the discharge of the test object and voltage doubling cylinder after shutdown.

2. Prevent foreign objects from entering the control box. If there is a fan in the control box, it should be checked regularly to ensure that the fan is functioning properly.

3. When the insulation cylinder of the double pressure cylinder is dirty, please use a dry cloth to clean it, and do not use organic solvents such as alcohol or gasoline to clean it. Clean the surface of the insulation cylinder with detergent and wait for it to air dry before use. Please put it in the box during transportation or when not in use.

4. When replacing the fuse, please replace the fuse according to the ampere rating marked next to the fuse holder.

5. If the high voltage shielding microampere meter displays "LOW BAT", please replace the 9V battery to avoid measurement errors.

6. Do not open the control box and pressure doubling cylinder without permission, otherwise it will affect the product warranty.

7. When transporting instruments, it is necessary to avoid rainwater erosion and strictly prevent collisions and falls.

The ZC-524 B ultra-low frequency and high voltage generator combines modern digital frequency conversion advanced technology, adopts microcomputer control, and is fully automated in boosting, reducing, measuring, and protecting. It can also undergo manual intervention during the automatic boosting process. Due to its fully electronic design, it has a small size, light weight, large screen LCD display, clear and intuitive display, and a printer that outputs test reports. The design indicators fully comply with the "General Technical Conditions for Special Testing Instruments for Power Equipment, Part 4: General Technical Conditions for Ultra Low Frequency and High Voltage Generators" power industry standards, making it very convenient to use. At present, both domestically and internationally, mechanical methods are used for modulation and demodulation to generate ultra-low frequency signals, resulting in non-standard sine wave waveforms, large measurement errors, spark discharge in the high-voltage part, bulky equipment, and high-power high-voltage resistors for discharge shaping in the second and fourth quadrants of the sine wave. Therefore, the overall power consumption of the equipment is relatively high.
