On April 2, the first batch of 550kV step-up transformers with the largest international capacity in the underground powerhouse on the left bank of Baihetan Hydropower Station successfully arrived and transferred to the main transformer room.

The 550kV transformer of Baihetan left bank power station is developed by the Three Gorges mechanical and electrical company in combination with the manufacturer, planning and operation unit. The capacity of a single transformer is 375 MVA; the delivery capacity is about 178 tons, equivalent to 89 cars; the delivery scale is 6100 × 3660 × 4030 (length × width × height) millimeters.

The transformer is a device which changes the AC voltage by using the principle of electromagnetic induction. The 550kV step-up transformer selected for Baihetan Hydropower Station will boost the output electric energy voltage of a single million kilowatt unit from 24kV to 550kV, and send it to the grid through GIS of gas insulated metal switching station and Gil of gas insulated metal switching transmission line with the highest international drop.

The three novel coronavirus pneumonia units used for the first generation of the 1 generating units on the left bank underground power station are the first electrical appliances for the first batch of underground power stations on the left bank of Baihe beach during the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

Baihetan mechanical and electrical equipment project Department of the Three Gorges mechanical and electrical company organized all participating units to carefully arrange, unify and harmoniously, and successfully unloaded the main transformer in the left bank underground plant equipment room, which was pulled to the main transformer room by the winch. The move marks the official start of the work of high-voltage electrical equipment in the left bank power station.

By the time of publication, all three transformers had been transported to the main transformer room.
