Delhi's electricity demand peaked this summer

:2019-10-26 10:46:51:

Delhi's electricity demand peaked at night this summer, with the use of alternating current, coolers and fans leading to the largest power consumption, creating a "cooling load."

Data from the Delhi state load dispatch center (SLDC) show that the city's electricity demand peaked at night in the 90 days from May to August.

"In contrast to the widespread belief that higher daytime temperatures demand more electricity, Delhi's electricity demand is increasing at night, primarily because of cooling loads," said a discom official.

Delhi's peak power demand has increased by more than 250% since 2002, when it was 2879 megawatts.

On July 2, it hit a record high of 7409 megawatts, according to the data.

"Cooling load is the primary factor behind Delhi power load addition. In fact, according to estimates, almost 50% of Delhi's summer electricity demand is due to the cooling load of coolers, coolers and fans, "the official said.

Air conditioning can account for 30% to 50% of the company's or family's annual power cost.

In the summer, Delhi's electricity demand peaked in 89 days - May 19, June 18, July 24 and August 28, according to the data.

In fact, even on July 2, when Delhi's demand reached a prehistoric high of 7409 megawatts, South and West Delhi's electricity demand hit a prehistoric record of 3159 megawatts for the first time in the afternoon, but broke it again in the evening (3189 megawatts), discom officials said.

In the area of bsesdiscombrpl in South Delhi and West Delhi, electricity demand peaked in 115 nights - 26 May, 29 June, 29 July and 31 August.

In eastern and central Delhi, covered by another bsesdiscombypl, power demand peaked on 97 nights - 22 days in May, 24 days in June, 22 days in July and 29 days in August.

Officials make up that if North Delhi is supplied by tpddl, electricity demand will peak at night in 52 days - 10 (may), 13 (June), 14 (July) and 15 (August).
